A Day in The life of a Collage
Please note this item arrives unframed .
Collage: a manipulation of images
A collage (From the French: coller, to glue, French pronunciation: [kɔ.laːʒ]) is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
By ripping, cutting, juxtaposing one image against the next I build a form, a multi layered imaged that can be looked at from various points of view. sometime it’s purely for the sake of assemblage but mostly it’s to amuse, even agitate a viewer.
the nature collage;
I start with a piece of nature found on a walk or in my garden. sometimes it originates from my salad. it all depends on what type of day it is…usually I start with a base of handmade paper, which I myself have prepared ahead of time which will designate the shape and size. I then add slowly the different natural images and glue them down until I am satisfied. after that I might hand color it, sew it by hand or machine and then add a final coat, perhaps to seal it.
